Meet the Prof

Hungry
Corporate communication Prof who has spent the last ten years in Singapore.  I moved here to help build SMU, and my teaching and research portfolio focuses on corporate reputation, digital media across Asia, and leadership communication. During this time I have also had the pleasure of creating the university's teaching excellence program, course packet system, and new courses for undergraduates, MBAs, and executives.  Internationally, I have also lived and worked in Argentina, Finland, Germany, Slovenia, and Japan.

A high point of 2011 (other than being a proud daddy) was being named the recipient of the Champions Award for innovative course design and execution from the Central and Eastern European Management Association (CEEMAN).  I continue delivering reports from Asia to the For Immediate Release podcast each week.

My executive education and consulting clients have included IBM, IHG, APEC, IE Singapore, 3M, Singapore Airline, International SOS, Singhealth, Lundbeck Pharmaceutical, Bayer, and Singapore's MFA and CPF.  I also served as the program director for the SMU-Wharton Strategic Leadership and Change Management Program, and continue to direct the IBM Business and Industry Insights program.

On a personal note, I love novels from John Fowles, Milan Kundera, Jospeph Mitchell, Norman Maclean and a few others.  I also frequent the movie theaters, coffee shops, and pubs of Singapore in search of good entertainment or weiss beer.  I would love to complete my rescue diver course in 2012, if time and work permit. And that dream of being a chef...well, let's just say it remains a dream.

If you want to read some of my work, I am a contributing author to the recenly best-selling The Social Media MBA (Christer Holloman).  I have also discussed digital channels in The Digital Spring of Talent Development, and also recently published a pedagogical article Business Communication Quarterly.  I have also started publishing case studies at ECCH (Twittamentary-free case, and Starbucks Forbidden City). Finally, my books are all available at Amazon.com.

If you really want to start a conversation, reach out with a question about the "open" movement in education or the demands for a new learning paradigm in higher education.  These are sure to get a response.
